Instructional Strategy: Frontloading Vocabulary
Frontloading or pre-teaching vocabulary is an excellent before-reading instructional strategy to facilitate student comprehension. A number of evidence-based instructional strategies are available to frontload targeted vocabulary, thereby enhancing opportunities for student success in core content. Information is provided that outlines use of Lexile leveling to assure a good match with passage reading level and student independent level for instructional materials other than reading instructional materials.
